Based off their carbon Lycos model, the new Alchemy Amorak gravel bike keeps the huge tire clearance and extra mounts but sticks them on a titanium frame.

Fitting up to 700×50 or 650×2.2″ tires, the handmade ti frame is made in-house in Colorado and designed for backroads, backcountry, and bikepacking, and comes with a lifetime warranty to back it up.

Dropped seatstays and a 27.2 seatpost add compliance, and seatstay & dropout mounting points let you add a rack for lightweight touring. The ENVE Adventure Fork adds three more mounts, plus top tube bag mounts behind the stem, for more gear. UDH rear dropout makes it easy to mullet with gravel or mountain bike cassettes and derailleurs.

They use custom gauge titanium tubing to create six sizes, but can also do custom geometry. Keep it raw, or get custom paint to make it your own. MSRP starts at $5,499 for a frameset, and complete bikes range from $7,499 to $10,499.

$5,500 for the frame set? Just expensive to be expensive.

I agree. If you want a similar looking frameset (I’m so tired of dropped seat stays) you can purchase an American made Lynskey Pro Gr frameset on their website for $2.160.

Yup that is Alchemy’s MO. That and making ugly bikes.

The bike(frames) is expensive. However, you are paying for engineering and talent. Whether you have more or less of those attributes over the other does not matter, different strokes for different folks.

You’re not looking at very complex engineering here.

Am I? Perhaps you are not looking at the true costs of making an American-made Ti frameset. It is easy to point out how expensive something is. It is not so easy to understand why.
