OK, so “your” van will need to be a Sprinter, Transit, or (soon) a Ford E-Series or RAM ProMaster. But if it is, the new Super Pacific Cloud Cap rooftop tent lets you convert it into a proper pop-top camper.
The rooftop tent differs from others in that it’s longer (110″), and that extra space creates a pass-thru opening that lets you enter it from your van’s cabin. You’ll need to cut a hole in your van’s roof, but the hardware, template, and gasket seal are all included.
The tent’s hardshell outer is 1/2″ polypropylene honeycomb composite on the roof, and 1″ thick on the base too support your weight. Hardware is a mix of billet aluminum with UV stable anodizing, powder-coated aluminum, and stainless steel.
The tent shell is “marine-grade acrylic-impregnated polyester with three storm flaps zipping over three no-see-um mesh doors. Vents above the doors can be propped open for air flow even when the storm flaps are shut. Choose from gray, tan, or navy/oyster fabric colors.
It comes with an Exped MegaMat Duo mattress measuring 78″ x 52″ x 4″.

The top and sides use slotted T-Track extrusions for accessory mounts, letting you add much of the same gear you’d normally add to the roof, including light bars, awnings, etc. There are even hammock hanger lash points on each corner.
